Safety on the Move: Empowering TIS Students for Every Journey
At Thai International School (TIS), the safety and well-being of our students are paramount. As part of our commitment to fostering a secure and enriching learning environment, our students participated in a comprehensive bus safety training on November 5, 2024. This training comes at a crucial time as we prepare for upcoming field trips and camp adventures later this month.
The training emphasized the critical importance of vehicle safety, especially for children, who may not instinctively know how to respond in emergency situations. Here’s why this training is vital and what our students learned.
Understanding the Importance of Vehicle Safety
- Medical Emergencies with the Driver: In rare but critical instances, a bus driver may experience a medical emergency. Students learned how to recognize signs of distress and the steps to take, such as securing the vehicle if safe and contacting emergency services.
- Responding to Smoke and Fire: Quick thinking can make all the difference in a smoke or fire situation. Students practiced how to safely evacuate the bus, use emergency exits, and assist each other calmly and efficiently.
- Handling Crashes: Understanding what to do in the event of a crash can reduce panic and ensure safety. Students were taught to stay seated, protect their heads, and wait for instructions from the bus driver or an adult.
- Dealing with Being Locked Inside: While rare, the possibility of being locked inside a vehicle is a real concern. Students were trained on how to use the emergency exits and call for help.
- General Safety Practices: Beyond emergencies, students were reminded of daily safety practices, such as wearing seat belts, remaining seated while the bus is moving, and being aware of their surroundings.

Ensuring that children are well-prepared for any eventuality is not just about compliance with safety protocols—it’s about giving them the confidence to handle challenging situations. This training helps build a culture of safety, where students not only understand the importance of following safety rules but also feel empowered to act responsibly during emergencies.

- เหตุฉุกเฉินทางการแพทย์ของคนขับรถ: ในกรณีที่หายากแต่สำคัญมาก คนขับรถอาจประสบเหตุฉุกเฉินทางการแพทย์ นักเรียนได้เรียนรู้วิธีสังเกตอาการและขั้นตอนที่ต้องทำ เช่น การหยุดรถในที่ปลอดภัยและการติดต่อหน่วยกู้ภัย
- การตอบสนองต่อควันและไฟ: การคิดอย่างรวดเร็วสามารถสร้างความแตกต่างได้ในสถานการณ์ที่มีควันหรือไฟ นักเรียนได้ฝึกฝนวิธีการอพยพจากรถบัสอย่างปลอดภัย การใช้ทางออกฉุกเฉิน และการช่วยเหลือกันอย่างสงบและมีประสิทธิภาพ
- การรับมือกับอุบัติเหตุ: ความเข้าใจในสิ่งที่ต้องทำในกรณีที่เกิดอุบัติเหตุสามารถลดความตื่นตระหนกและเพิ่มความปลอดภัยได้ นักเรียนได้เรียนรู้ที่จะนั่งอยู่กับที่ ป้องกันศีรษะ และรอคำแนะนำจากคนขับรถหรือผู้ใหญ่
- การจัดการกับการถูกล็อคในรถ: แม้จะเป็นสถานการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นน้อย แต่นักเรียนควรรู้วิธีการใช้งานทางออกฉุกเฉินและการขอความช่วยเหลือ
